We got the job done the way Liverpool insist on getting the job done. Concede the first goal. A bit of a sloppy start with untried lineup. The new lads seemed to try a bit too hard at first which lead to loss of shape with a good many sloppy give aways and poor passes.
I was not bothered. I knew we were going to win. Got the line up and the score wrong in my predictions. I was right about the win.
I do not slog-off Liverpool players. Anyone who follows me knows that. I expect from time to time, each and every one of them will have poor showings. And some will go through slumps. I didn’t see anything too concerning. Let’s talk about it.
Wataru Endo seemed to know where to be but not where his teammates would be. He will improve with game time. I do wish he were a hair quicker.
Ryan Gravenberch grew into the game. I see the potential. Ben Doak is exciting. He is young, like a puppy, needs to better control when he passes, when he charges without coaching away his natural ability.
Stefan Bajcetic was played out of position. He grew into game and would be awesome played as a 6 with Trent playing an inverted fullback.
Tsimikas can be awesome. And he had his moments. Kelleher is a world-class goalkeeper, and I hope he gets all the cup games. Or we will lose him. It’s hard to play behind the world’s best keeper.
We got goals from Diaz, Nunez, and Salah. And any match where that happens is a great match. When the big boys came on, it was like LASK wasn’t even on the pitch. And that is how it should be.
Next up West Ham on Sunday at Anfield. And I will be all about that.
I think you are right. Liverpool love their drama. But not sure they can get away with going down a goal to West Ham.
I am wild about Szobo. Reminds me of Gerrard at his best. And the young lads, Bajcetic and Doak are coming along nicely. And that assist by Gravenberch was class.
I think they are doing it on purpose 😁.
Anyway, I liked very much Gravenberg and Bajcetic...These boys are pure class.
As well as Slobo is..
Let's hope the Dutch isn't injured, and it's just cramps.
When Tiago will be fit, and Stefan will get games, we are going to witness some very nice things.
Mo seems to enjoy his "new" game role: a false 11...(AKA: a playmaker at wide right area..😊). He primary looks to assist, than score.
